''The
Advanced Commando Combat System''
(abbrev. ACCS)is
one of the few existing Military Close Quarter Combat Martial Arts in the world. It has been already imparted to about 15,000
soldiers from the Indian Forces & Police from 1994-2006.
Introduction:
Till
the late nineties, Military Martial Arts were not in spotlight. The British Unarmed Combat was adopted by most Allies &
by the armies who derived support from the British.
Today,
in the modern era, most armies all over the world, have reviewed their Unarmed Combat systems & CQB systems & began
the process of modernization.
In India, a Doctor couple by names [Prof.
Dr. Deepak Rao & Dr. Seema Rao] have made significant efforts in bringing about modernization of Close combat Arts.
Their
system named the Advanced Commando Combat System, is derived from their research & study of training over 15,000 soldiers
from the Indian forces.
It
is to be noted that the Rao couple have devoted their life to training soldiers from the Indian forces & never accepted
any compensation for their work.
Their
efforts & research in modernization has received official appreciation from the Indian Army Chief in 2001.
ACCS
represents the first few of the newer generation Military Martial Arts & the art has chosen to remain low profile,
non commercial & dedicated to training the Indian forces.
Let
us compare ACCS to other Military Martial Arts:

|
In 2005, The
Army Chief ordered an ACCS Presentation at a high level "Unconventional Ops Convention" of senior Army Officers (Generals,
Brigs & Cols from all over the country) at the Infantry School, Belgaum.
In 2006 the Army Com mander (NC) Gen D. Kap oor invited
the Rao couple to impart modern ACCS CQB tactics & Reflex Shooting for Counter Terrorism Op applications at Corps Battle
Trg SchoolS for select participants from various Infantry formations(Corps, Divs & Regts), Special Forces, Delta
force, etc drawn from the entire Command. This was an invitation at the highest level from the Army, and also the
Army Chief designate.
The Indian Air Force Chief SP T yagi also directed
an ACCS course for the elite Air Commandos GARUD under the Rao couple.
This marked the magnitude
of official interest ACCS has generated within the Indian A r m y.
Today ACCS trg has been imparted to many elite
super specialised Units like Natio nal Sec urity Guar ds, Counter Aircraft Hijac k Units, Hostage Res cue Units, Counter Terrorism
Units, De lta Force, Air Force Special Forces etc.
Definition
ACCS is a principle
oriented close quarter fighting art specifically designed for the special operations soldier to quickly dispose his enemy.
The Basis:
The useful
Principles & Crippling foul tactics of various martial arts are imbibed & sport applications rejected. Then these
techniques & principles are reinvented for use in close quarter battle situations.
The
Specifics are:
Close Quarter
fighting Weapons -The Soldiers seasoned Body, his Dagger, Bayonet & Rifle butt, CQB situations like raid, ambush &
hostage rescue and The Soldiers Goal - to kill, else be killed.
ACCS derives inspiration
from Sun Tzus 'Art of War' , Bruce Lee's 'Jeet Kune Do' Ideology & CQB Tactics.
ACCS is based
on Prof. Dr. Deepak Rao & Dr. Seema Rao's lifes work of training 15,000 soldiers & Policemen from India CQ Combat
over 10 years without compensation, as a service to the Nation.
ACCS is
a situational art
The commando needed
to quickly and silently terminate, handicap, cripple or immobilize his enemy, many a times in hostile terrain, like high altitude
glacier, where air oxygen concentration is low, under water as in a diving operation, or in the dense shrubs of the jungle
or scorching heat of the desert.
Hand to Hand combat,
Hand to Weapon combat or Weapon to Weapon combat may be involved and many a time the soldier may find himself at the wrong
end of a firearm, bayonet, or dagger.
He has to emerge
alive, exterminating his enemy in a covert operation.
Multiple opponents
may be involved and he may have to use everything and anything as a weapon for killing.
The situation
is not that of a tournament or sport, and the goal is not to score. Kill or be killed is the ultimate outcome.
Traditional Martial
arts & Law enforcement Defensive tactics are not suitable for this purpose. Hence the researching began to compile useful
principles of various combat arts leading to founding of ACCS.
